Biden May Just Have Handed the GOP a Big Bright Glaring Spotlight to Put on the Hunter Scandal

Suddenly the Biden family federal investigation stories are coming out.

They were all there to be found before and we reported on them, but the mainstream media in the main didn’t just ignore, they actively suppressed them, with some even suggesting, ridiculously, that they were “Russian disinformation.”

But after trying to hide them for so long, Joe Biden may have just found a way to actually turn a big bright glaring spotlight on them so Americans can finally see all the ugly truth he’s been sitting on all this time. And he just might be inadvertently dragging his “best friend forever” back into the mix.

The Federalist’s Christopher Bedford makes a great observation.

Joe Biden has announced a variety of potential nominees including former White House Chief of Staff and Deputy National Security Advisor Denis McDonough for Veterans Affairs; former Deputy National Security Councilor and Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken for Secretary of State; former Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Director of the CIA Avril Haines for the Director of National Intelligence; former Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for Homeland Security.

All these positions require Senate approval and all these guys, perhaps particularly Antony Blinken, were in positions in the Obama administration to know what was going on with Hunter Biden and Joe Biden’s relationship to it all.

Bedford observes that confirmation hearings are the perfect time to bring all this out. What did they know and when did they know it? They may try to scramble a lot but a lot more is not only going to come out on Hunter and Joe, but on the Obama administration’s response to it all.

Nominees before the Senate will have the choice to claim ignorance, cop up to the grimy details, or try to push back. No matter which door they choose, they’ll face some very awkward questioning.

This is just the start. Who will be named for attorney general? It matters less if he were in a position to directly witness — or have direct knowledge of — Hunter’s profiteering from compromised Ukrainians and Communist Party elite; it matters most if he will publicly recuse himself from any role in the actual investigation. Hint: The answer to recusal will have to be “yes” if Republicans keep both their spines and the Senate.

Further, will the nominee for attorney general commit to ensuring his deputies do not interfere with any investigation? Bonus hint: The correct answer is once again “yes.”

It’s a commitment that ought to be posed not just to the potential attorney general, but to every nominee who is in a position to interfere. When it’s an investigation of an American citizen’s actions across multiple countries over multiple continents, that’s going to be a lot of commitments from a lot of people in a lot of places.

But how could anyone be sure the investigation is above board? That is, unless a special counsel were to be appointed. The idea isn’t simple partisan vengeance, although there would be some historic poetry to it.

I think I’m having deja vu. But there would be a certain deserved symmetry to it all, particularly if he picks a “wingman” attorney general type. Everything the Obama administration tried to do to the Trump administration, but with actual facts supporting it.
