Here’s another positive bit of news showcasing those who are focusing on helping others. Actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry recently gave a wonderful blessing to individuals suffering economically due to the coronavirus outbreak.
TMZ reported that Perry gave a $21,000 tip to employees of a Houston’s restaurant in Atlanta, GA, to help them with the financial hardships that were brought on by COVID-19. The actor, who frequently patronizes the restaurant for takeout orders, gave 42 of the business’ wait staff $500 each.
The restaurant’s servers have been unable to work because of a statewide lockdown order designed to decrease the spread of COVID-19. With no definite date as to when the shutdowns will end, many are left dealing with financial uncertainty.
So far, over 6,700 COVID-19 cases have been discovered, and more than 200 Georgia residents have succumbed to the illness. The virus is expected to hit its peak over the next week, according to the White House.
This isn’t Perry’s first major act of kindness. The filmmaker sent a plane filled with emergency supplies to the Bahamas after they suffered through a devastating hurricane last year. He also donated $100,000 to underprivileged schools in Ohio.
While high-profile media figures on both sides are going to war over the coronavirus outbreak, regular folks aren’t as concerned with the politics of the pandemic. Stories such as this likely won’t get much airplay on the major media outlets. Still, Americans must remember that these acts represent our society – not the vitriol we’re seeing on the airwaves today.
