When you need to understand what’s what, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is always there for the assist.
Case in point: On Friday, the former bartender asserted that, thanks to longterm environmental racism, the coronavirus is disproportionately hurting minorities.
Therefore, we need reparations for everyone. Except white people (or was she excluding some other races, too?).
Here’s the science she dropped:
“COVID deaths are disproportionately spiking in Black + Brown communities.”
Why, might you ask?
She’s way ahead of ya:
“Why? Because the chronic toll of redlining, environmental racism, wealth gap, etc. ARE underlying health conditions.”
AOC isn’t the first to pitch the environmental racism curveball; last September, Julián Castro served somethin’ similar.
The then-presidential hopeful and former Housing and Urban Devlopment secretary appeared to claim during a CNN town hall that weather can be racist:
“I know that too often times it’s people who are poor, communities of color, who take the brunt of storms that are getting more frequent and more powerful.”
Julián Castro says his plan calls for new civil rights legislation to address environmental racism. “I know that too often times it’s people who are poor, communities of color, who take the brunt of storms that are getting more frequent and more powerful.” #ClimateTownHall pic.twitter.com/0kK3mrBGqg

Castro and Ocasio should get together. In the meantime, Alexandria’s letting us know that “inequality is a comorbidity.” And also, there’s a clear way to address that:
“Inequality is a comorbidity. COVID relief should be drafted with a lens of reparations.”

So there ya go.
Maybe if white people keep paying all other people, eventually, America will find balance to every corner of the Force?
Twitter had some things to say, and some weren’t of the high-five variety.
AOC, l hate to laugh but this is the tweet of an imbecile.
Failed Democrat leadership in urban areas is what’s causing the COVID spike in “Black + Brown” communities. Decades of Democrat neglect has taken its toll.
And guess what, the bullshit YOU promise wouldn’t fix a thing!

The next person had the class to insert an asterisk:
The dumbest sh*t I’ve read today..

The Bongino Report had a thought:
You literally just made this up. Racial data on coronavirus deaths doesn’t exist yet https://t.co/KjuWjOJ5Bl

I thought this photo, in particular, was notable:

One user lamented the truth AOC had tweeted. Apparently, “they” have no care for people brown or black. If you agree, you’re in luck — he looks to be running for Congress:
They don’t really care about us.

One user appeared to suspect a conspiracy:
Yup – the VIRUS got together with the Republicans they had a conference and said you know, we need to really target the black/brown communities…
GO get um
I didn’t think the entire Dem Party was as dumb as @aoc but everyday changes that thought process pic.twitter.com/TIN8Sdkqz6

No- a bunch of white men ran the government for 200& years and 98% of the laws passed protect their safety and privilege, then the pandemic came and the essential workers (majority poc who are showing up to work and getting exposed) and the rules and laws worked as designed.

This tweeter appreciated the basic breakdown of it all:
Bartender, Economist, Doctor and now prescient on facts not even available to Scientists. Is there anything she CAN’T Fix?

And if that didn’t do ya right, here’s more Ocasio-Corona. I mean, Ocasio-Cortez, master mover amid the pandemic. I heartell that means there’s a crisis-level shortage of pans.
Her wisdom’s a panacea.
10 million people *that we know of* are newly unemployed in the US.
This is an unprecedented crisis.
The Federal gov has the power to guarantee healthcare, housing, & basic income.
Yet conservative officials are resisting doing the bare minimum to save lives. It’s a betrayal. https://t.co/YshBMvjrTR
